Modern life moves at a fast pace. A crazy pace, even. For these times, we need unlimited and unbridled transportation.
It is astonishing how many unenlightened Americans are willing to drive around in terrible automobiles. The capitalistic system of America has proven that automobile corporations are inept to the needs of society. Detroit wants to control us even though our spirits are free and unbridled. European or Japanese vehicles are simply better machines, for their more enlightened governments allow the vehicle makers to use the visual language to communicate identity, instead of regulations and oppressions which are implicit in the design of American vehicles. Consider the smoothness of a Volkswagen or speed of a Honda Civic to a Plymouth Horizon. There simply is no room for debate.
Therefore, the artist was left with little recourse but to submit their visual documentation of various unbridled transportations to enlighten not only the viewer but also to enlighten the much-needed conversation about transportation needs and the upcoming energy crisis.
Artistically, one would not be remiss to consider this series a continuation of the artist's consideration of dilapidation.
